AB La inamovilidad del sistema de transporte terrestre es una de las señales más características del atraso económico. Quizá sea por eso que los economistas españoles del siglo XIX hayan concentrado buena parte de sus esfuerzos en quebrarla, principalmente con el trazado del ferrocarril. Sin embargo, su transformación definitiva no se produce, como era de esperar, hasta que quiebran las condiciones estructurales del mismo atraso, ya en la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en el marco del despegue industrial de España y mediante un nuevo medio de transporte: el automóvil
AB The lack of mobility of the system of terrestrial transport is one of the most characteristicsigns of the economic backwardness. Maybe because of that economists and spanish politiciansof the XIX century concentrated good part of their efforts on breaking it, mainly with thelayout of the railroad. However, their definitive transformation doesn’t take place, as it was expected,until the structural conditions of the own backwardness are broken.
