AB Las políticas de desarrollo rural en España han sido escasas y se han desarrollado en base a los programas Europeos LEADER y PRODER. El turismo rural ha sido uno de los grandes beneficiados y a través de él se ha ayudado al desarrollo local de los espacios rurales. El artículo plantea la conexión entre los recientes cambios acaecidos en el medio rural, la desigual utilización de los recursos de estos espacios, la ausencia de políticas públicas para el desarrollo rural integrado, la sostenibilidad del turismo y en concreto del turismo rural y los pros y contras desde los aspectos socioeconómicos, culturales y mediambientales del turismo rural.
AB There is a shortage in rural development policies in Spain, which have been mainly developed on the basis of European LEADER and PRODER programmes. Rural tourism has been one of the most benefited activities which has helped local development in rural areas. This paper shows the connections among recent changes in rural areas, the unequal utilization of resources from these areas, the absence of public policies for integrated tourism, tourism sustainability and, in particular, rural tourism sustainability. Rural tourism pros and contras from the socioeconomical, cultural and environmental point of view will be studied as well.
