RT Book,_Section T1 Alternative Methodologies for the Synthesis of Substituted 3-arylcoumarins: Perkin Reactions and Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis A1 Matos, Maria João Correia Pinto Carvalho de A1 Vázquez Rodríguez, Saleta A1 Borges, Fernanda A1 Uriarte Villares, Eugenio K1 3-Arylcoumarins K1 Palladium-catalyzed synthesis K1 Perkin reaction AB With the aim to find out the best methodology to prepare different series of substituted coumarins, thinking on their pharmacological evaluation, in the present communication we report the synthesis of 3-phenylcoumarin with different number and position of substituent groups in both 3-phenyl and coumarin rings. The substituents in this new scaffold were introduced in the 6 and 8 positions of the coumarin moiety and in 3'and 4' positions of the 3-phenyl ring. The synthesized compounds 1-7, 8 and 9-11 were prepared and characterized by different methodologies. Perkin modified reaction (method A and B) and Palladium-catalyzed synthesis (method C) were the methodologies described in this communication PB MDPI SN 3-906980-24-3 YR 2010 FD 2010 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10347/26872 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10347/26872 LA eng NO Proceedings of the 14th International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry, 1–30 November 2010, MDPI: Basel, Switzerland, doi:10.3390/ecsoc-14-00376 NO We are grateful to the Spanish Ministerio de Sanidad y Consumo (PS09/00501) and to Xunta da Galicia (CSA030203PR).
