RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 From a Necessitist Point of View: Themes on Timothy Williamson A1 Conde Borrego, Violeta K1 Timothy Williamson K1 metaphysics K1 modality AB What would have occurred if my parents had never met? Would there exist something that could still be considered “me”? If so, what characteristics would this entity possess? Is it possible to speak intelligibly about absolutely everything that exists? Could there be something beyond what currently exists in the world? Is simplicity a desideratum for our metaphysical theories? These and many other questions can be raised and, perhaps, answered through the philosophy of modality developed by philosopher Timothy Williamson. The primary aim of this doctoral dissertation will, therefore, be to use the philosophical corpus of this author as a framework to address some of the central issues within the metaphysics of modality, as well as to offer potential responses to the significant challenges they present.
