RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 New molecular mechanisms and novel biomarkers associated with Extracellular Vesicles in Polycystic Kidney Disease: from preclinical models to patients A1 Vizoso González, Marta K1 Polycystic Kidney Disease K1 ADPKD K1 cystogenesis K1 therapeutic target K1 biomarkers K1 Extracellular Veislces AB The Polycystic Kidney Disease involves a group of diseases, which arecharacterized by the presence of cyst in nephrons from both kidneys, leading to kidney failure to the majority ofpeople affected. The Polycystic Kidney Disease is a global public health problem, being one of the most commonhereditary syndromes. Despite its importance, there is a lack of early diagnosis and effective therapy, apart fromrenal replacement therapy. Due to this, the principal objectives of this project are focused on the research themolecular mechanism that is involved in the development of the Polycystic Kidney Disease with the aim ofelucidating the key mechanism for cystogenesis that will allow us to find a new effective therapeutic target for thetreatment of polycystic kidney disease; and the development of new diagnostic tools that complement with thegenetic diagnosis our group do and also allow us to anticipate the evolution of the disease.
