AB El presente artículo estudia las cantigas de amigo gallegoportuguesas quese conocen como “cantigas de santuario”, atendiendo a sus condiciones de produccióny recepción como claves para acceder a su significado. Se cuestiona la relación existente entre el autor y el templo aludido en la cantiga, para lo cual se adoptan comoobjeto de estudio a Martin Codax y sus siete cantigas de amigo. Para ello se analizanel posible origen toponímico de su apellido y la relación que mantiene con Vigo, ellugar que se menciona en sus cantigas
AB This article studies the Galician-Portuguese cantigas known as cantigasde santuario, arguing that their conditions of production and reception are crucial totheir interpretation. It is questioned the relationship between sanctuaries and poets, using Martin Codax and his seven cantigas de amigo as a case study. To do this, it isanalysed the possible toponimic origin of his surname and his relationships with Vigo,the town he alludes to in his cantigas
