Abstract
This text joins the flourishing line of studies into agrarian fascism and the local politics of fascist and parafascist dictatorships. Taking Franco's regime as a case study, our work focuses on the role played by two of the most outstanding categorizing structures of the partido único, the FET-JONS, in rural postwar Spain: Frente de Juventudes (The Youth Front) and Organización Sindical (The Trade Union Organization). The evolution and difficulties of both delegations during the 1940s is analyzed, including their real level of implantation, the sociological profile of their leaders, members and affiliates, and their capacity to carry out specific policies in rural context. This proposal calls for greater attention to the actions of FET-JONS in rural Spain (already well-known in the urban sphere), given that the Spanish postwar society was characteristically rural. Moreover, the Spanish youth and peasantry constitute two collectives are perhaps yet to receive sufficient attention in the historiography regarding Franco's regime
