El cine fantástico de la Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía. Matheson, Bradbury y Sheckley en Monte Esquinza

Abstract

Las prácticas pertenecientes al género fantástico que se ruedan en la escuela de cine Madrid entre 1947 y 1976 conforman un corpus de obras con la suficiente envergadura como para obligarnos a repensar la historia de dicho género cinematográfico en nuestro país. En este artículo se estudia la producción fantástica del Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas-Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía (IIEC-EOC) en el doble contexto del cine español de género y el de la literatura popular de temática fantástica que se edita en castellano durante el periodo franquista. En la segunda parte del artículo se analizan en detalle algunas de las películas más representativas de la producción fantástica del centro de enseñanza artística (especializado en cine) más importante que ha existido en España. En concreto, se presta atención a las adaptaciones de I am Legend(Richard Matheson), The Playground(Ray Bradbury) y The Prize of Peril(Robert Sheckley) que realizan, por este orden, Mario Gómez Martín, Pedro Olea y Francisco Montolío.

The exercises of fantasy cinema shot at the Madrid Film School between 1947 and 1976, constitute a corpus of works of sufficient significance to force us to rethink the history of this film genre in our country. This article studies the fantasy films produced by the Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas-Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía (IIEC-EOC), in the double context of Spanish genre cinema and popular fantasy literature published in Spanish on the period of Franco’s regime. The second part of the article, analyzes in detail some of the most representative fantasy films of the most important center of artistic education (specialized in cinema) that has existed in Spain. Specifically, attention is paid to the adaptations of I am Legend (Richard Matheson), The Playground (Ray Bradbury) and The Prize of Peril (Robert Sheckley) directed, in that order, by Mario Gómez Martín, Pedro Olea and Francisco Montolío.
