Abstract
In this thesis new shape-persistent dendrimers with tetraphenylmethane nodes, ethynylene linkers and terminal ester groups have been developed. Its synthesis was accomplished following a convergent route, and they have been characterized by NMR, MS and SEC. In addition, its optical properties have been evaluated, as they show high intrinsic fluorescence. Its periphery offers numerous functionalization possibilities, so its biocompatibility could be significantly increased. This, together with its globular structure and the presence of well-defined hydrophobic internal cavities make them good candidates for possible future applications in biomedicine.
