Niñas pobres, pobres niñas. Menores tuteladas en Lugo durante el franquismo (1945-1960)

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es acercarse a las condiciones de vida de un grupo social definido por su marginalidad. A partir de los expedientes incoados por el Tribunal Tutelar de Menores de Lugo examinamos la situación de la colectividad tutelada en esa provincia en la década de los cincuenta. Daremos cuenta de la actuación de la institución, tanto en su la facultad reformadora como protectora y sobre los menores de ambos sexos, pero analizaremos en detalle las problemáticas suscitadas por las menores. Niñas y muchachas expedientadas son un sujeto histórico que ha permanecido al margen del interés historiográfico que sí han merecido otros colectivos marginados. Las fuentes posibilitan una mirada específica a las menores del medio rural y trazar un perfil sobre las familias enjuiciadas. El resultado de este análisis micro es que los ritmos, rutinas y procedimientos del Tribunal demuestran una enorme continuidad con la década de 1940 y que ninguno de los cambios habidos en los discursos internacionales sobre tutela dejó huella en su actuación diaria.The aim of this article is to approach the living conditions of a social group that is defined by its marginality. Based on the files opened by the Tribunal Tutelar de Menores (Juvenile Court) of Lugo, we examine the situation of children and youngsters under guardianship in the province in the fifties. We will give an overview of the institution’s actions in terms of both its reformative and protective powers and with regard to minors of both sexes, but we will analyse in detail the specific problems raised by the treatment/circumstances of underage girls. Criminally sentenced girls and teenage women are a historical subject that has remained outside the historiographical interest that other marginalised groups have been considered worthy of. The sources allow us to take a specific glance at rural minors and to draw a profile of the prosecuted families. The result of this microanalysis is that the rhythms, routines and procedures of the Court show great continuity with the 1940s and that none of the changes in the international discourse on guardianship have left their mark on the Court’s daily activities.
