Abstract

O que se pretende abordar neste traballo é un achegamento a cinco obras de Bruce Nauman (Fort Wayne, 1941) nas que o espectador xoga un papel esencial e específico. Partirase dun contexto histórico-artístico para comprender as condicións que rodean ao artista, seguido dunha introdución aos primeiros anos da súa carreira. Tras isto, a análise das cinco obras, que son: Get Out of My Mind, Get Out of This Room (1968), Live-Taped Video Corridor (1970), Going Around the Corner Piece (1970), Body Pressure (1974) e Raw Materials (2004). Todas estas pezas tiveron un papel esencial no proceso de activación do espectador que ten lugar na arte contemporánea a partir dos anos 60.
The aim of this paper is to approach five works by Bruce Nauman (Fort Wayne, 1941) in which the viewer plays an essential and specific role. It will start with an overview of the art-historical context to understand the conditions surrounding the artist, followed by an introduction to the early years of his career. After this, the analysis of the following selection of his work, which are: Get Out of My Mind, Get Out of This Room (1968), Live-Taped Video Corridor (1970), Going Around the Corner Piece (1970), Body Pressure (1974) and Raw Materials (2004). All these pieces played an essential role in the process of activation of the spectator that takes place in contemporary art from the 1960s onwards.
