As raízes ideológicas da Alt-Right Americana

Abstract

A alt-right estabeleceu-se como um fenómeno político em rápida expansão no início do século XXI, posicionando-se como o eixo central do pensamento nacionalista branco americano e distinguindo-se das correntes de pensamento predominantes no seio da direita americana. No entanto, tal como no seu nascimento, o seu desaparecimento foi tão rápido como a sua ascensão, em consequência de dois acontecimentos: o incidente de Charlottesville em 2017 e a ocupação do Congresso dos EUA em 2021.Este artigo tentará explicar a ascensão e queda da alt-right, as correntes de pensamento pelas quais foi influenciada, desde o paleoconservadorismo ao direito-libertário, centrando-se em ideias como as de Hans Hermann Hoppe. Por outro lado, analisará como a alt-right se diferencia das correntes mais populares da direita "trumpista", como o Breitbart ou o Infowars, distinguindo-se pelo seu tom académico e pela sua intenção de refletir um profundo rigor intelectual.

The alt-right imposed itself as a rapidly expanding political phenomenon at the beginning of the 21st century, positioning itself as the central axis of American white nationalist thought and distinguishing itself from the currents of thought that prevailed within the American right. However, as happened at its birth, its demise was just as rapid as its emergence, as a consequence of two events: the Charlottesville incident in 2017 and the occupation of the U.S. Congress in 2021. This paper will attempt to explain the rise and fall of the alt-right, the currents of thought by which it has been influenced, from paleoconservatism to right-libertarianism, focusing on ideas such as those of Hans Hermann Hoppe. On the other hand, it will analyze how the alt-right differs from the most popular currents of the "Trumpist" right, such as Breitbart or Infowars, distinguishing itself by its academic tone and its intention to reflect a deep intellectual rigor.
