Abstract
Effective energy planning is pivotal for guiding the shift towards sustainable energy. It requires analyzing and optimizing strategies considering energy demand, resource availability, technology, and socioeconomic factors. Advanced energy modeling tools are indispensable, providing insights into various scenarios to support resilient energy system development. OSeMOSYS (Open Source Energy Modelling System) is a widely used tool for evaluating energy dynamics and aiding transitions to sustainable energy systems. This study enhances OSeMOSYS by integrating key sustainability indicators—energetic, economic, and environmental—into its optimization function. These indicators are converted into economic terms and incorporated as additional cost factors, balancing sustainability and cost considerations.
