Abstract

Leadership, and how it is understood, classified or trained, has been the subject of debate throughout history. However, its characteristics, even if they can be kept relatively constant, have also been influenced by the historical events that humanity has faced. A variety of approaches, from sociology or political science to economics and health, as well as thoselinked to new technologies, have in one way or another incorporated this concept and brought it closer to their fields of work. In this context, this research carries out a search in the Scopus database to visualize the evolution of the attention paid to the classical concept of leadership and the emerging concept linked to new technologies, generally known as digital leadership. The aim is to verify their evolution, to identify the main countries and areas of production and to verify the validity of both ideas and their future prospects. The conclusions point to a strengthening of the predominance of the leadership concept and the still nascent definition of the idea of digital leadership, whose role has become more relevant in the recent pandemic context.
