Abstract
Understanding the dynamic interaction between mechanical forces, cellular responses, and therapeutic interventions is much challenged by arteriosclerosis, a complicated vascular disease marked by the thickening and hardening of artery walls followed by persistent inflammation. This PhD study aims to solve these problems by creating a microfluidic platform that closely resembles the biomechanical and biological circumstances linked with both healthy and sick arteries. This PhD study aims to solve these problems. This technology is intended to test the efficacy of pharmacological medicines under physiologically relevant settings and ease the research of cellular reactions to different haemodynamic stimuli. The main goal of this work is to design, build, and verify a microfluidic system able to replicate the haemodynamic settings found in both normal and arteriosclerotic arteries.
